Miracles are not nostalgia

Most people can tell you about a miracle. Almost always somebody else's, and almost always a while ago. Signs and wonders end up filed as history: beautiful, distant, finished.

If He is the same today, that filing is wrong. Not because everything you ask for arrives, but because expectation is the honest posture toward a God who has not changed and has not retired.

Expectation is not a mood. It looks like praying specifically. Asking out loud. Telling someone what you are waiting on, so there is a witness when it comes.

MIRACLES down the side of a garment is written in present tense on purpose. It is a small, public refusal to talk about God only in past tense.
